This program screens and assesses parents prenatally or within two (2) weeks after the birth of the baby to determine if the family meets eligibility criteria for home visiting services on Kaua‘i. Screening occurs six (6) days a week, including holidays and is provided to families who are at-risk for child abuse or neglect. They are referred by community service providers. Or those interested in additional parenting support. This program provides supportive services prenatally and at the time of birth to effectively reduce the impact of pervasive life stressors, reduce parental stress, and increase attentive and consistent care giving to newborns by linking families with needed community resources. All services are confidential, voluntary, and free.

 

Eligibility

1) Parents prenatally or within two (2) weeks after birth of a baby.
2) Parents living in the Lihue (census track 404-405) area.
