Free Services Open to the Public:

General Counseling Program
Solution-focused therapy offered to individuals, couples, or families who would not otherwise be able to afford treatment.  Fees are based on a sliding scale according to family income.

Post Permanency Services
Designed to assist parents of newly adopted children in parenting skills and techniques.

Baby S.A.F.E.
Baby S.A.F.E. provides outreach and referral services for pregnant and parenting women affected by substance abuse.

Nana’s House
A family development center providing an array of family support and family preservation services to the families of West Kauai (Koloa to Mana).

Healthy Start
Island-wide referral and home visiting service that provides support, information and encouragement to families with newborns.

Head Start
A federally funded family preschool program free to qualifying families, offering comprehensive services in the areas of health, education, family development and community advocacy.

Services That Need Referrals:

Independent Living Services
Helps foster youth aged 12-22 learn life skills and self-sufficiency.

Intensive Home and Community-Based Intervention Program
Provides time-limited, intensive treatment to youth and families, primarily in the home, to stabilize the youth’s functioning.

Family Strengthening Services
Short-term support and intensive referral services to families to reduce the risk of child abuse/neglect (referred by the Department of Human Services).  

Comprehensive Counseling
Intensive program for abusive/neglecting parents (referred by the Department of Human Services) to help them become more competent at providing a safe and nurturing home for their children.

Employee Assistance Program
Provides confidential, short-term counseling to employees of contracted companies and their families to assist them in overcoming problems, which adversely affect their work performance.

Your Rights:

As a participant in a Child and Family Service program you have the following rights:
  • The right to a humane service environment
  • The right to services free from unlawful discrimination
  • The right to be involved in your own service planning
  • The right to confidentiality except when otherwise mandated by law
  • The right to services  which are least restrictive and most convenient
  • The right to file a complaint if these rights are infringed
