Intensive Support ServicesService Description:The Multisystemic Therapy (Hilo and Leeward Oahu) program assists youth and their families in overcoming complex clinical issues to achieve sustained success. Problem behaviors are viewed as having multi-determinants and the MST model seeks interventions within the entire ecology of the youth, i.e. community, peers, school and family. Eligibility: Referrals for services are provided by the Department of Health and the Department of Education. Youth has a known mental health diagnosis; treatment in a less-restrictive setting was attempted; youth and family have insufficient or severely limited resources or skills necessary to cope with an immediate crisis; the youth and family issues are unmanageable in school based behavioral programs settings and require intensive, coordinated clinical and positive behavioral intervention; youth is at risk of out of home placement or is currently in out-of-home placement and reunification is imminent Fees: There are no fees charged for this program. Funders: This program is funded by the State Departments of Health and Education. Your Rights: As a participant in a Child and Family Service program you have the following rights:
Clients are expected to participate in the intake process (consents, face sheet, assessments, & performance contract); sign the treatment plan acknowledging review; and maintain weekly contact with provider due to the intensity of the 3-5 month program. Focus of program is on changing youth behaviors through increase parental monitoring and participation.
