Independent Living Services

Service Description:

Independent Living Services is a program which provides individual and group counseling for youth ages 12-21 who are living in out-of-home care.

The program is designed to assist youth in developing the skills they need to prepare for and manage the transition to a product and self-sufficient adult life.

Youth may develop skills in the following areas:
  • Money management
  • Consumer awareness
  • Health
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Educational Planning
  • Employment
  • Legal skills
  • Communication skills
  • Stress and anger management techniques
  • Many more…
Eligibility:

Any youth ages 12-21 who is referred by the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Service Division.

Fees:

There are no fees charged for this program.

Funders:

This program is funded by the State Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Service Division.

Your Rights:

As a participant in a Child and Family Service program you have the following rights:
  • The right to a humane service environment
  • The right to services free from unlawful discrimination
  • The right to be involved in your own service planning
  • The right to confidentiality except when otherwise mandated by law
  • The right to services  which are least restrictive and most convenient
  • The right to file a complaint if these rights are infringed
Expectations:

Clients are expected to participate in the intake process (consents, face sheet, assessments); sign their treatment plan acknowledging review; and maintain contact with provider, especially related to attendance.
