Healthy StartService Description:Healthy Start services connect parents of newborns with helpful services and information. The service is free, voluntary and confidential. Healthy Start provides home visiting services to qualified families who have children between the ages of zero to 3 years of age. A multi-disciplinary home visiting team partners with parents to address individual family needs, set and support goals, and build a safe and nurturing home environment around the new baby. The program’s overall goal is to reduce any risk of child abuse and neglect while monitoring the health and development of our young children. The Enhanced Healthy Start program provides home visiting services to families who are currently in Child Welfare Services. A multi-disciplinary home visiting team partners with caregivers to address individual family needs, set an support goals, and build a safe and nurturing home environment around the child. The program’s overall goal is to reduce concerns related to child abuse and neglect, while monitoring the health and development of our young children. The program service is voluntary to all non-military parents with children ages zero to 3. Healthy Start offers:
Eligibility is determined in the hospital at the time of birth. An eligibility interview maybe requested by calling Healthy Start Early Identification at (808) 566-4141 for Oahu (808)245-5914 on Kauai. Fees: There are no fees charged for this program. In order to benefit from the Healthy Start program, each family is asked to develop, in partnership with their home visitor, an Individual Family Support Plan which describes their goals, and to participate in regularly scheduled home visits in order to work towards those family goals.
