Hawaii Employee Assistance Services (HEAS) Changes Name to “WorkLife Hawaii”Taking care of the human side of businesses in Hawaii for 25 years January 5, 2009 The new WorkLife website will be released soon! Until then, please scroll down to the bottom of this article and click on the Hawaii Employee Assistance Services (HEAS) link to view the website. “Looking to the future, we want our company’s name and brand image to resonate more fully with the services we provide.” said Howard S. Garval, President and CEO of Child & Family Service, parent company of WorkLife Hawaii. The departure from the 25-year-old name and logo mark is the result of a series of intense internal visioning sessions conducted as the company mapped out and prioritized long-term goals. WorkLife Hawaii provides employer-sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services such as confidential counseling to employees and their family members. A stakeholder in Hawaii for 25 years, WorkLife Hawaii has its pulse on Hawaii’s workforce both through its own quarter century and the longer history of its parent, Child & Family Service. New programs and training sessions are added frequently to address emerging needs, such as helping employees manage the stress of personal financial troubles during the current financial crisis. In difficult economic times, these services are more important to companies than ever—WorkLife Hawaii has seen a 35% rise in utilization of services due largely to the current economy. To compete in 21st century economics, Hawaii companies are discovering what Fortune 500 companies know, that EAP services help retain good employees, keep them more productive and more present, reduce health care costs, absenteeism, and workers’ compensation claims. Nine out of ten employees report that personal life issues affect their job performance. WorkLife Hawaii helps employees address personal problems so that productivity in the workplace can be restored. Programs and training sessions help supervisors and managers deal with ever-changing work environments and stresses—from absenteeism to aging parents to education issues. Studies have shown EAPs to be consistently cost effective, not only by restoring productivity, but by reducing the use of health benefits. WorkLife Hawaii was the first Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) in Hawaii. The company is a Hawaii-based organization with 25 years of experience implementing employee assistance programs. WorkLife Hawaii provides counseling services, training programs, and professional consultants on each of the Hawaiian Islands, Saipan and Guam. WorkLife Hawaii retains national and international EAP provider affiliations. WorkLife Hawaii is a program of Child & Family Service, Hawaii’s oldest and largest nonprofit human service organization founded in 1899. www.worklifehawaii.org |
